Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AKG) is a molecule that is involved in a number of important metabolic processes, including the Krebs cycle and the synthesis of amino acids. Some studies have suggested that AKG supplementation may have a number of health benefits, including improved longevity and reduced signs of aging.

However, it’s important to note that the scientific evidence for the benefits of AKG for longevity and aging is limited, and much of the research that has been conducted so far has been done in animal models rather than in humans. While some studies have shown promising results, more research is needed to determine the safety and efficacy of AKG supplementation for these purposes.

One study conducted in mice, for example, found that AKG supplementation led to a significant increase in the lifespan of the animals, as well as improved health and reduced oxidative stress. Another study in rats found that AKG supplementation was associated with a reduction in age-related changes in the heart, liver, and kidneys.

There is also some evidence that AKG supplementation may have beneficial effects on athletic performance, as it has been shown to increase endurance and reduce fatigue. However, again, more research is needed to confirm these findings and determine the optimal dose and duration of AKG supplementation for this purpose.

It’s worth noting that AKG is a naturally occurring molecule that is produced in the body and is found in many foods, including meat, dairy products, and certain vegetables. While AKG supplements are available, it’s not clear whether taking these supplements provides any additional benefits beyond what can be obtained from a balanced diet.
